By using this website you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the site. These are short terms for a small, open-source project — they exist to set expectations, not to trap anyone.

What this site is

Quantgress is a self-hosted, open-source project that collects public U.S. government and public-domain disclosure data into a local database. This website is the project's marketing and documentation site. It does not host the data, run the API, or offer a service to the public — the software is something you run yourself.

Not investment advice

Nothing on this site, in the docs, or in the project constitutes investment, financial, tax, or legal advice. Congressional and insider trading disclosures are filing records, not trading signals. Data about what a legislator or insider disclosed is not a recommendation that you buy or sell anything. You are solely responsible for your own investment decisions. Laws change; before relying on any of this data for a compliance or legal decision, consult a qualified professional.

Data is provided as-is

The data is scraped from primary government sources and passed through, with the provenance kept visible. It is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranty of any kind — no guarantee of accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or fitness for any purpose. Where a value was inferred rather than scraped (for example, a ticker recovered from free text), it is flagged in a *_guess column rather than silently merged. Verify anything that matters against the underlying filing, which is always the authority.

Third-party data terms

The underlying datasets are public government or public-domain disclosure data. Redistributing them commercially is a separate question with real constraints — most notably 52 U.S.C. § 30111(a)(4), which bars commercial use of FEC contributor data, and FINRA's Terms of Use, which bar bulk scraping and commercial redistribution of short-volume data. The project ships the FEC data aggregate-only and treats FINRA data as personal/research use only. Your use of any dataset is governed by the source agency's terms, not just these terms.

Intellectual property

The Quantgress software is MIT licensed — see the repository. The site content is published alongside the project and may be reused in the same spirit. The data itself, as a factual record of public filings, is public information. Nothing in these terms transfers any rights in third-party marks or the source agencies' materials.

External links

The site links to GitHub and to the government source systems. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content or availability.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the project and its maintainers are not liable for any damages arising out of your use of the site, the software, or the data — including direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or lost-profits damages. The entire project is a volunteer, open-source effort.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any disputes will be resolved in the applicable courts of the United States.

Changes

We may update these terms as the project evolves. Material changes will be reflected in the site's public commit history. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
